Q&A
Q: What if I have a small area of space?
A: If the site is small we recommend installing the speaker pointing directly down towards the floor, creating a smaller sound footprint, and reducing the reflective area.
Q: How wide is the beam of sound? A: Dispersion is extremely tight (1% at 3 meters), both horizontal and vertical, over the size of the speaker (6.38" x 12.49")
Q: Can I use the HyperSound Speakers with any amplifier? A: No. The HyperSound Amplifier has proprietary digital signal processing circuitry. That produces a composite ultrasonic/sonic waveform which is amplified and sent to the speakers
Q: Can the speakers be connected in series or parallel with each other? A: No. The HyperSound Amplifier has two channels. Each channel is designed to drive a single HyperSound Speaker, for a total of 2 speakers per amplifier. The two channels on the amplifier are separate and can be used for stereo audio or two completely separate audio sources
Q: How far can the speaker be from the amplifier? A: The HyperSound Speakers each come with a 6' cable. The maximum speaker wire length is 140'
Q: What is unique about the speakers? A: The HSS-3000 HyperSound directional speakers are not like standard speakers. The audio travels in a narrow ultrasonic beam with very little dispersion depending on the environment. The SPL of the Speakers is 100dB @ 1.5kHz / 2 meters. This means at 2 meters the maximum output is 100dB measured with a 1.5kHz audio signal being played.
Q: Can I use any amplifier with these speakers? A: The amplifier uses patented Digital Signal Processing to create the modulated ultrasonic audio that the HyperSound Speaker requires to operate. You can not use another amplifier with the speakers.
Q: How long are the wires that come with the speakers and can I use my own? A: The speakers come with 6' wires. You can use longer wires as long as they do not add impedance.
Q: Can I use a pre-amp if the volume is too low? A: Yes, if the volume level is too low with the source of the audio at maximum level, I would suggest using a pre-amplifier or headphone amplifier between the audio source device and the HyperSound Amplifier. Then you will adjust the audio level on the pre-amplifier or headphone amplifier to get a louder output from the HyperSound speaker.
Here is a link to a Behringer HA400 headphone amplifier that has been used successfully in the past.
If you use the Behringer HA400 be aware it has 1/4" input and output connectors so you will need adapter connectors like this to use 1/8" or 3.5mm wires to connect your source and the HyperSound Amplifier to it.
